1.  Professional Organization in the Name of Chinese Medicine

In the past, most organizations of Chinese Medicine in America were named as organization of "Oriental Medicine".

ACMA deems that the term "Oriental Medicine" is an inappropriate synonym for Chinese Medicine, and should be discontinued.  ACMA differs from other organizations by being a professional organization named after "Chinese Medicine" directly.

For more info on the difference between Oriental Medicine and Chinese Medicine, please see the following article

2.  CMD Standards

ACMA is dedicated to adhering to the highest standards of Chinese Medicine -- Chinese Medicine Doctor (CMD) Standards -- on all issues relating to Chinese Medicine in order to ensure the highest efficacy and safety for patients and the public, and to protect the integrity of Chinese Medicine.

For more information about CMD Standard, please go to About Chinese Medicine Doctor (CMD) Education.

3. Open Policy

Since the beginning, Chinese Medicine was originated from the people, was practiced for the people, and was evaluated by the people.  People have been the major sources, supporters, and driving forces for Chinese Medicine.  In this sense, Chinese Medicine is a people's medicine.

Due to above reasons, ACMA decides to be an organization open not only to Chinese Medicine Doctors (CMDs), acupuncturists, herbalists, or other practitioners, but also to patients and the public.

4. Professionalism

ACMA is dedicated to the professional growth and development of Chinese Medicine.

ACMA will unite any persons and organizations who support Chinese Medicine disregarding their political stands, group affiliations, religions, race, age, gender, etc. differences.

ACMA discourages any non-professional behaviors relating to Chinese Medicine.

5.  ACMA Code of Ethics
