Chinese Medicine AIDS/HIV Research

1. Introduction

ACMA HIV/AIDS Program has developed a set of Chinese Medicine HIV/AIDS treatment protocols and methodology that has achieved encouraging therapeutic outcomes in treating some HIV/AIDS patients.

To improve efficacy and to achieve more reproducible and consistent therapeutic outcomes for HIV/AIDS treatments, ACMA plans to conduct more Chinese Medicine HIV/AIDS studies and researches in the following directions:

  • conduct more clinical studies and researches on HIV patients;
  • conduct more clinical studies and researches on AIDS patients with different types of complications.

2. ACMA Guideline on Chinese Medicine Research

As elucidated in [1, 2, 3, 4, 5], the commonly adopted randomized double-blind control study research methodology in Western Medicine cannot be directly applied to Chinese Herbal Medicine studies and researches.

To facilitate the Chinese Herbal Medicine studies and researches, ACMA has set up a guideline for Chinese Medicine studies and researches.  The ACMA HIV/AIDS Program will follow the ACMA Guideline on Chinese Medicine Research in above proposed clinical studies and research.
