Introduction

ACMA Patient Group is a membership patient support group for ACMA patients mainly.  The goal of the group is to provide patient supports, address questions and issues on ACMA Treatment, and publish ACMA Treatment information of interests to most ACMA patients.

The ACMA Patient Group uses the Yahoo Group format.  Yahoo Group is an internet group designed for people in different locations (e.g. in different states or even countries) to discuss issues through email.  The advantage of this group format is that group members do not need to gather together physically for discussions.  People can simply discuss topics and issues at home through email with other group members.  This has saved time and expenses, and made discussions easier, efficient, and convenient.

Yahoo Group is like a forum.  During discussion, group email will be automatically distributed to all group members by Yahoo.  The persons sending group emails are performers.  All group members are the audience.

Similar to other professional groups, this group is governed by laws, netiquette, and other applicable rules and regulations, etc.

Benefits

The group members have two major benefits:

(1) Since the group is the sole place where files, documents, and case information on ACMA Treatment and ACMA Cancer Treatment are kept and saved (above information is unavailable at ACMA website), members of this group have the benefits of getting access to above information, which may be of help to them, their relatives, friends, or colleagues, etc. now or in the future.

(2) Group members can receive group messages, which may be of help to them, their relatives, friends, or colleagues, etc.

Membership

Since many patient's private information (name, diseases, conditions, etc.) are mentioned and revealed at the group, this is a private group, which is open to ACMA patients mainly.  If you are not an ACMA patient, please do not apply to join the group (in the past, many non-ACMA patient's membership applications have been denied).

There is no membership fee for ACMA patients to join this group.

Steps to Join the Group

Please follow the steps at ACMA Patients to join the ACMA Patient Group.

Privacy Policy

During a group discussion, patient's names, diseases, signs, symptoms, and other conditions might be mentioned.  It is the patient's choice to do so.

Tips for Privacy

If you do not want to reveal your personal or private information, please do not include them in your message to the group.

In Yahoo Group settings, if you "Reply" to a group message, the "Reply" message will go to the entire group rather than the sender alone.  In other words, if the email address after "To:" is ACMAPatientGroup@yahoogroups.com, your message will be distributed to the entire group.

How to Reply a Group Email

(1) If you click "Reply" (not "Reply All") to a group message, your message will be sent to entire group.

(2) If you do not want to send a message to the entire group, please do not click "Reply" to group messages. You may create (initiate) a new email rather than clicking "Reply" to avoid sending message to the entire group.

For more information on this issue, please go to Tips for Privacy.

Exit Policy

Because many group members have severe or life-threatening diseases, this group limits discussions to ACMA treatment mainly.  Therefore, most of the time the group is quiet.

However, occasionally some member may initiate a discussion, and the message traffic could be high for a few days.  ACMA has no control over when the discussion will start and what topics will be discussed.  These are totally the group member's decision and choice.

Some members are very interested in the discussions because they have obtained many information they cannot get elsewhere.

Some members are not interested in the discussion, and do not want to be overloaded by the group messages.  If you fall into this category, there are two options:

(A) Delete the group messages that you are not interested in, and focus on the messages you are interested in.  In this way, you will keep the benefits of getting access to the files, documents, and messages on ACMA treatment, and can receive future group messages that might be of help to you.

(B) Leave the group.  In this way, you will lose above benefits, and cannot receive future group messages, which might be of help to you.

If you decide to leave the group, the steps are:

(1) Initial a new email;

(2) Put the following email address after the "To:" in your email: info@americanchinesemedicineassociation.org

(3) Put "Unsubscribe" in the "Subject:" section of your email.  No reason or explanation is needed in your email.

(4) You will be removed from the group as soon as your request has been processed.
